Ka Mun & Nigel’s wedding took place at Plaisterers Hall in London over the summer. Their wedding was traditional but also fun and relaxed. It had lots of Chinese elements thrown in for good measure.
Ka Mun & Nigel are a beautiful couple. They made me feel really welcome right from the start of their wedding day. Ka Mun is a lawyer and Nigel is a vet! Both great vocations for impressing Chinese parents. It’s a shame videographer isn’t in the same category (sorry mum!).
The wedding was Western in style with lots of fun Eastern elements incorporated in. I thought this made the film a lot more unique and exciting. The more unique things you put into your wedding, the more unique your wedding film can be.
In the morning, the groomsmen had to complete lots of tasks set by the bridal party. These included eating chillies, playing various ball games and weird stuff with rubber chickens! The groom then had to ‘break into’ the bride’s apartment. They tried to bribe their way in with money, but only had a fiver so that didn’t work! In the end, the groom earned his way into the apartment by singing the song; Bruno Mars – Marry You. The songs not to my taste, but it was certainly appropriate given the circumstances!
Other eastern elements that made it into the wedding were obviously gambling and Chinese food, two things I was more than happy to see! Having gambling did have the knock-on effect of clearing the dancefloor faster than imagined. It was worth it for all the footage of people enjoying themselves playing crabs and roulette. Ka Mun’s family own a Chinese restaurant so of course some of their food made it to the wedding. I think I ate about a million duck rolls, they’re one of my favs!
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a traditional Chinese Dragon dance. We used to go see them all the time in China town every Chinese New Year. Filming The sounds of the drums and the bells ringing used to get me
The last unique element to mention was the Chinese tea ceremony. This is where friends and family of the bride and groom offer gifts and ‘lucky packets’ (full of money of course!). It’d be great if I could somehow incorporate this into my own wedding one day.
The wedding took place at the height of summer and it was a really glorious day. The great weather really helped add to the happy vibe of the day. We got some great footage of the couple out in the city with the backdrop of buildings and bridges.
The venue; Plaisterers hall is really large and grand. It provided all the space required to fit all 220 guests in the large hall with plenty of smaller rooms too. Located right near London wall and the Barbican, it is ideally placed and not very far from my London flat which was a bonus.
I’m always pretty proud to share testimonials that I get from my happy clients. I honestly try my hardest to provide the best wedding film possible. When I hear a bride has watched her film 10 times that fills me with pride. Bear in mind, this was like a day after I’d sent it to her!
“… Thank you for such an AMAZING job. We absolutely love it and I’ve watched the 5 min highlight over 10+ times and the hour-long edit twice already..!”Ka Mun
